Our Approach
Ketamine can be administered in a number of ways including intravenous infusion (IV), intramuscular injection (IM), intranasally, orally, and sublingually (as a dissolving troche or lozenge). Each route varies in the onset of action (time), bioavailability (absorption), and clearing time and also varies for each person. Although a response is generally predictable based on past administration, it is possible that a patient may experience different physiological, psychological, and emotional effects with the same dose.
We firmly believe that multiple ketamine sessions are needed in order to facilitate the cumulative anti-depressant or other mood-altering effects of the medication. Typically, a patient will go through 1-2 sublingual treatments prior to an intramuscular treatment. This is necessary to assess how the patient reacts to the medicine, to allow the new neural pathways to form, and to reorganize synaptic connections.
Sublingual
The purpose of the sublingual ketamine lozenge sessions is twofold. First, it allows our staff to assess your response to the medication and gives us a baseline to work with. For some individuals, only sublingual administration will be utilized. Second, it generates a cumulative anti-depressant or other (anxiety, pain, PTSD, etc.) benefit that often occurs over time with repeated sessions.
IM (intramuscular)
After a patient has experienced 2-4 sublingual ketamine treatments, he/she may benefit from one or more intramuscular treatments. The purpose of the IM ketamine treatment is to create a non-ordinary or altered state of consciousness in order to facilitate a profound transpersonal (transcendental, mystical, or spiritual) peak experience.
IV (intravenous)
Much research has done with the IV administration of ketamine, and although it also yields the same cumulative effect, it may not produce a profound experience which can play a vital role in the healing process. However, it has been found that patients who suffer from chronic pain can benefit immensely from IV ketamine treatments.

How Does Ketamine Treatment Help With Mood Disorders?
What distinguishes ketamine in comparison to various other antidepressants is how it functions to have an effect on the human brain. Antidepressants generally concentrate on boosting chemicals in the brain like serotonin as well as dopamine.
Using ketamine for clinical depression, nevertheless, can in fact assist in repairing neuron synapses that commonly do not operate correctly in the brains of depressed individuals. Ketamine prompts a reaction in the brain, and it’s the adjustment to that provocation–the regrowth of synaptic networks–that is accountable for the quick progress in the mood it produces.

How Does Ketamine Treatment Help With Chronic Pain?
Ketamine therapy is a practical treatment alternative for dealing with chronic pain symptoms, and may be particularly efficient for individuals who have come to be resistant to narcotics and various other pain-relieving treatment methods.
Ketamine treatment delivers encouraging results for pain patients and may be a worthwhile alternative to most conventional treatments for CRPS. Ketamine functions by means of resetting the central nervous system’s sensitization to pain, thereby providing relief.
Unlike opiates that make patients more hypersensitive to pain in time, ketamine serves to help quiet the brain during the course of treatment and brings back regular handling of pain in the brain to supply long-lasting pain reduction.

Setting Your Intentions
In order to facilitate a positive experience, both set and setting have to be taken into consideration. We have taken great care to ensure that the setting is relaxed and comfortable and we offer music, soft lighting, blankets, sleep masks, etc. in order for you to allow yourself to let go. But how do you prepare your mindset for an experience? The best way to do this is through setting intentions. An intention is a guiding principle for how you want to live and a way to bring heart and mind into alignment.
Your First Treatment
It is not uncommon to feel a little nervous or apprehensive prior to a session, especially the first one. You will work with our staff to find an appropriate dose during your treatment. Generally you will titrate up to larger doses in subsequent sessions which can lead to more profound experiences. No two experiences are the same and no one can tell you what you may experience. Integrating Your Experience
Ketamine can do a lot of amazing things, but it cannot change your diet, habits, environment, or who you associate with. All of these things have to come from the individual and it takes courage and bravery to facilitate these changes. In the days and weeks that follow an experience, it may become easier to allow these changes to become a part of your usual lifestyle. However, it is important that if these changes are resisted the will to make these changes may fade. That is why it is imperative to reflect, integrate, and make changes directly following a session.
